Elite Canine Training and Behaviour is based on the Sunshine Coast in Palmwoods with a purpose-built training field giving our clients the comfort and safety of a controlled, clean and peaceful environment.
Elite Canine Training and Behaviour (est. 2011) was formally known as Kylie Smith Dog Training (est. 2003) running puppy preschool in Vet clinics on the Sunshine Coast. As dog ownership escalated it was clear that training new puppies was not the only important responsibility of owning a dog, the public needed education about Dog behaviour and Psychology.
We strive to not only teach your dog obedience and manners but to ensure you have an understanding of your dogs’ behaviour, body language and how a dog perceives our world. With this understanding, we can make better choices in the way we handle, interact and teach our canine companions to live our somewhat stressful society.
We have a carefully selected passionate team that carry the same ideals as Kylie and pride ourselves in making our clients feel supported, encouraged and at ease the moment they engage in our services.

Owner, Professional Dog Trainer, Vet Nurse
Elite Canine Training & Behaviour is owned and operated by Kylie Smith, a fully Internationally Qualified Professional Trainer and Canine Specialist. As a result of Kylie's great depth of understanding canine behaviour, she has created unique training classes and programs for owners and their dogs.
Kylie’s experience with dogs includes 15 years in the Veterinary Industry as an experienced Veterinary Nurse. After acknowledging the need for more diverse training methods and wanting to help owners enjoy their canine companion, Kylie attained higher qualifications as a Professional Canine Trainer and Behaviour Specialist at a Premiere School for Dog Trainers in the USA.
As a Professional Trainer, Kylie broadens her knowledge through continuing professional development both nationally and internationally. In addition, she ensures all clients receive personal attention to achieve their individual goals with their dog through group and private training. In over 20 years in the industry she is the preferred choice of many vets on the Sunshine Coast and one they will trust when their clients need compassionate and reliable advice.
Assistant Trainer
Sam joined us as Covid hit in 2020 desperate to continue his passion for dogs when his volunteering role at RSPCA was interrupted after 10 dedicated years. Sam lives with Autism and his attention to detail and consistency is a valuable trait in the Dog Training Industry. Just at the start of his career in Dog Training he already has the tick of approval from any dog he works with proving a natural connection in trust and loyalty.
Sam’s philosophy is “Dogs deserve us to understand them in a way so they can be the most loyal and consistent forever fur buddy”.
Sam helps in keeping our Puppy Day Trains running smoothly and assisting owners in developing their handling skills through our socialisation classes.
